The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach is about to undergo a major expansion with a theater, special exhibition, art galleries and new animal exhibits.
The new wing, called Pacific Visions, will house the two-story theater with a 32-foot-tall, curving screen. There will be a new plaza with a larger ticketing area and new main entrance, according to Curbed.
EHDD Architecture designed the $53M addition, of which $40M has been raised. The digital exhibits will be designed by Cortina Productions.
Work is scheduled to begin next year with a projected opening date of late 2018. [Curbed]
