One of Houston's most popular Starbucks locations has reopened. Starbucks in Rice Village, where corporate types, stay-at-home moms and students from nearby Rice University gather each day to get their daily drip, is now open at 2531 Amherst. The 2K SF Starbucks is about 25% larger than its former Rice Village location.

The overhaul is part of a broader renovation Rice Village is undertaking along Amherst Street from Kirby to Kelvin. The transition is from an all-brick facade to storefronts with varying colors, textures and roof lines. Widened sidewalks, new crosswalks, public art and a soft seating area will be added with the goal of creating a vibrant setting within the shopping and dining destination. Other elements of the Amherst makeover include removing the tops of several retail facades where greenery will be added to offer a visual glimpse of Rice Village’s rooftop parking where shoppers can park free up to two hours.
