Burger fans eagerly awaiting In-N-Out's arrival in Houston will have to keep waiting. The burger world was sizzling when it discovered In-N-Out purchased land at 8373 Westheimer, but plans are on hold.

“While we own the Westheimer property, it has an existing tenant lease in place for several more years so we are not at this time processing any plans with the city to build a restaurant there,” In-N-Out spokesperson Carl Arena said in a statement to KPRC 2.

According to Arena, the company is working on some other potential sites in Houston, but being so early in the discussion phase, he could not provide a timeline for a store opening.

The beloved California burger chain has been slow to expand, despite die-hard fans loudly clamoring for more across the country. Quality control, not lack of interest, is holding back In-N-Out's expansion plans. The company's policy is to be within 500 miles of a distribution center.
