Emmons Motor Latest Car Dealership To Expand In Houston

Car Dealer

Longtime Houston dealer Emmons Motor Co. is moving to a location that will quadruple its space. The used car dealer is moving to 16 acres at I-45 and FM 528 in the Clear Lake area. The company operates on four acres in Pasadena at 3301, reports the Houston Business Journal. That property will be leased to another user, according to Harvey Emmons.

Jacob White Construction and Heitkamp Swift Architect will partner to design and build the new facility, estimated at $15M, scheduled to deliver in Nov. 2017. The 48k SF dealership will be able to hold about 450 cars and a public body shop, waiting ares and 18k SF showroom.

Emmons joins a list of Houston dealers making real estate moves. Central Houston Nissan is working on a 160k SF facility near NRG. Group 1 Automotive broke ground on a new Sterling McCall dealership in August at Addison and 59. Two weeks ago, Sewell Automotive opened a four-story, 300k facility at US 90 and Highway 6. What the ramp-up in car dealership may mean for Houston traffic will surely make some Houstonians queasy. [HBJ]
