Now's Your Chance To Tell TxDOT How You Feel About I-45

Most Houstonians have wanted a chance to give TxDOT a piece of their minds, and now they have the chance.

A new plan from TxDOT would remove the Pierce elevated portion and reroute I-45 to run parallel to 59 east of Downtown, and would widen I-45 all the way to the North Freeway. The entire project is expected to cost $7B and TxDOT estimates it will increase traffic speed Downtown by 20 miles per hour during peak times.

If approved, construction could begin as early as 2020. TxDOT is asking for feedback on its project. Public comments are open here until July 27.
