In Memorium: Former Mayor Bob Lanier

Bob Lanier, who served as Houston's mayor from 1992 to 1998, passed away Saturday afternoon at the age of 89. Mayor Lanier was especially beloved by the real estate community because he was one of our own, as Culture Map reports; he was a developer and is known for supporting infrastructure, neighborhoods, and public space in Houston. Redeveloping Houston's CBD was one of his passions. His wife Elyse shared a final goodbye from Mayor Lanier to his employees and colleagues in public service--"Thank you for making a guy like me look good!" The funeral is tomorrow morning.
