The Dealmakers: Bisnow's Houston 2014 Top Office and Industrial Brokers, Part 2

Which office and industrial brokers knocked it out of the park last year? We rounded up the top producers at Houston’s top firms. (Check out Part 1 of our dealmakers list here.)

Colliers

Top Office Broker: co-chairman Bob Parsley
Total 2014 Production: 99 transactions totaling $313M

Bob’s most exciting transaction last year was far from home—he (in partnership with Colliers’ Chicago and Richmond offices) handled a 218k SF lease for McGuire Woods in Richmond, VA, which kicked off a Class-A development in the CBD. Back in our neck of the woods, Bob repped Houston Methodist Hospital in buying 57 acres at I-45 North and Highway 242 to build a 193-bed hospital. That $328M campus will be modeled off Methodist’s West Hospital near Katy and is scheduled to open in 2017. Bob (pictured dreaming of a Watt Christmas with his family—Elizabeth, Louise, Garland and Bayless) recently participated as a judge in the Prison Entrepreneurship’s business plan competition and graduation ceremonies at the Cleveland Correctional Center, which gave him an entirely new perspective on men in prison.

Top Industrial Broker: principal Barrett Gibson
Total 2014 Production: 31 deals worth $36M

Barrett split his time last year pretty equally between repping buyers and tenants, and his largest deal was a 95k SF expansion for a valve company. It was his first full year with Colliers—he joined as a principal in August 2013. When he’s not working, Barrett can be found hunting, fishing, golfing, or spending time with his wife and two kids.

JLL

Top Office Broker: EVP Ronnie Deyo
Total 2014 Production: 55 transactions totaling 2.1M SF

Ronnie (pictured here with his sons Walker and Cooper) says his most exciting deal of the year was the consolidation and relocation of the Memorial Resources Development HQ to the Allen Center. (It leased 125k SF there.) 2015 is already looking busy for Ronnie and his family—they’ve planned a trip to Disney World, and his sons start Little League baseball soon. (You won’t be seeing Ronnie on the golf course this spring!)

Top Industrial Broker: SVP Ryan Fuselier
Total 2014 Production: 140 acres and over 3M SF of industrial space

Ryan’s favorite deal was Flexitallic’s 395k SF build-to-suit. He and partner Bob Berry worked for over two years to assemble it! With three little ones under the age of 5, Ryan doesn’t do much in the way of hobbies or vacations beyond running around the house.

Stream

Top Industrial Broker: managing director Jon Farris
Total 2014 Production: 2.2M SF

Jon’s most exciting deal of 2014 was a 450k SF blend-and-extend lease for an oil and gas client in East Houston—he saved the tenant over $900k. Pictured, Jon and his son Matthew caught a Cubera snapper while fishing in Costa Rica.

Top Office Broker: managing director Anthony Squillante
Total 2014 Production: 396k SF

Anthony’s favorite deal was Percheron Holdings’ 30k SF HQ pre-lease at 1904 Grand Pkwy. The building will be one of (if not the) first office developments delivered north of I-10 on the Grand Parkway. He’s pictured here with his family on Thanksgiving, and tells us he’s all about sports, especially football and basketball.

Avison Young

Top Industrial Broker: principal Todd Mason
Total 2014 Production: 42 transactions

Todd’s most exciting deal last year was acquisition of the Houston Design Center at 7026 Old Katy Rd, a 281k SF transaction. He’s pictured here with colleagues John Pasta and Jay Magness, and loves hunting, fishing and golfing in his downtime.

Top Office Broker: principal Charlie Neuhaus
Total 2014 Production: 41 transactions

Charlie (also pictured with John Pasta, that guy’s everywhere) says his most exciting deal was locating and leasing a 40k SF facility within five days of getting an assignment for a client in Austin. It wasn’t the biggest deal of the year, but it was rewarding to work with the Austin team to deliver an effective solution so quickly. In Houston, his favorite deal was helping a client expand and reduce costs by terminating an existing lease and taking advantage of a sublease in the same property. He loved finding a creative solution in a very tight submarket. Charlie keeps himself busy coaching his kids’ sports, and working on projects for Bo’s Place.
