Within a cycle of fleeing office space for the newest and shiniest product, one company is staying put.

Deloitte, an audit, consulting, tax and advisory services firm, has renewed its lease at Heritage Plaza — a distinctive tower within Houston's downtown skyline. The deal includes 204K SF on the 39th through 45th floors.

“This re-commitment to Heritage Plaza is a testament to the continued vitality of downtown Houston and confidence in Brookfield’s emphasis on placemaking and creating a thriving mixed-use environment,” Brookfield Properties Executive Vice President Travis Overall said in a release.

Brookfield Properties' Clint Bawcom and Jon Dutton represented the landlord in-house.

Renovations will launch on Deloitte's interior space this summer and wrap up by late 2020. The budget for these improvements — upgraded common areas, conferences room, technology and wellness features — was not disclosed.

“At Deloitte, our people are at the center of our business and our new Houston office design will reflect that theme,” Deloitte Houston Managing Partner Amy Chronis said in a release. “As our local practice continues to grow and thrive, our new space in Heritage Plaza will complement who we are as an organization, prioritizing collaboration, wellness, and technology.”

Brookfield Properties' commitment to revitalization can be noted through its downtown projects. Allen Center has received a multiphase, multimillion-dollar renovation that included a 1-acre green space, an updated lobby for One Allen Center and an updated skybridge between One and Two Allen Center.

Earlier this week, a new high-end hotel, C. Baldwin, was announced in Brookfield's Allen Center. It will be designed to pay homage to Houston's unsung hero Charlotte Baldwin Allen.
