High Street Residential, the multifamily division of Trammell Crow, will begin construction at 800 Walker early next year. The 40-story unnamed tower was designed by Ziegler Cooper. The project was granted an extension on its agreement to build through the Downtown Living Initiative. The project must receive a temporary certificate of occupancy by May 28, 2020, to receive the incentive, the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Downtown Living Initiative reached its 5,000-unit cap in 2015. At the time, plans were in motion for High Street's $125M, 314-unit project, with construction expected to wrap up by Q2 2017, but a cloudy market forecast stalled the project. Improved market conditions also drove Camden to announce plans last week to break ground on its own stalled project Downtown.
