Dallas ISD’s P-TECH program has a new partner. The Pathways in Technology Early College High School program that facilitates students earning an associate degree and industry certificates concurrently with a high school diploma has teamed up with JLL for its Stationary Engineering program.
JLL will provide mentorship, help in creating curriculum, coordinate worksite visits and guest speakers, and create real-world projects for DISD students. Through P-TECH, students select a career path (such as engineering) to learn hands-on skills in that field. P-TECH is tuition-free.
JLL’s engineering services team (including Tim McCarty, above) and regional engineering manager Chis Hacker have been working on this partnership for two years. JLL will start performing duties as an industry partner next year.
Two sets of high school/college pairs will participate in the stationary engineering program: Hillcrest High School Collegiate Academy and Richland College, and Justin F. Kimball High School Collegiate Academy and Mountain View College.
