First Look at Hillwood Urban’s Plans

After Hillwood started Frisco Station, a light bulb went off. (And we're not talking LEDs.) Impressed with the the deal flow in that submarket, the mammoth company launched Hillwood Urban to pursue mixed-use, corporate build-to-suits and corporate office developments, Hillwood president Mike Berry tells us.

Mike (here with VP Mark Miller and SVP Bill Burton) says the team is now designing new corporate office projects in the Dallas core, including projects at the intersection of Woodall-Rogers and Field Street, and another in Victory Park adjacent to the DART station. Hillwood Urban is marketing these to large corporate tenants, while also looking for both urban and suburban tracts for mixed-use development in the major growth corridors of North Texas, he says.

Mike tells us the sites around Downtown have tremendous potential as major iconic corporate office towers. The idea is to get these in front of people and grow the business. Hillwood tapped Bill Brokaw (reunited with the company after a stint at Cushman & Wakefield) as SVP to lead the new division’s marketing and leasing efforts. Bill has leased more than 6M SF of landmark, Class-A office space. Bill (far left) says he'll market the sites to large corporate users relocating to Dallas that want to make a splash with an iconic building. Bill will join the team already in place: Ken Reese, Walt Zartman, Jacob Walter, Bill Burton and Russell Laughlin. The team’s development experience includes The Perot Cos HQ under construction on Turtle Creek (rendered); Perot Museum in Uptown Dallas; and the American Airlines Center; as well as numerous high-rise office, residential and hotel developments.
