Average multifamily rent in Dallas-Fort Worth has increased to $1,082. Dallas and Fort Worth were not among the cities with the highest rent growth, according to data from Yardi Matrix and RENTCafé. 

Several cities in the Metroplex grew rents by more than 9% in 2016. Weatherford rents ballooned 10.5%, Midlothian rents grew 10.1%, White Settlement rents rose 9.4% and Greenville rents grew 9.1%. Haltom City, The Colony, Sachse, Arlington, Waxahachie and Hurst also pushed pricing more than 7%. 

That rent growth did not necessarily make those cities the most expensive cities to rent an apartment. The lease expensive cities in DFW to rent include Greenville, Cleburne, Terrell, White Settlement, Lancaster, Richland Hills, Balch Springs, Hurst, Benbrook and Weatherford. The most expensive cities to rent include Sachse, Flower Mound, Little Elm, Rockwall, Addison, Keller, Frisco, Farmers Branch, Richardson and Allen.

Only two cities had negative rent growth, according to Yardi Matrix. Prosper rents fell by 9.4% and Little Elm rents fell by 6%.
