QTS is preparing to break ground on a 264K SF data center in Irving.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April and take about 18 months to complete, according to planning documents filed with the state. The $180M project will also include office and storage space.

The facility will be part of the company’s existing 55-acre campus at 6431 Longhorn Drive, which already includes two data centers spanning 700K SF.

Earlier this year, the company filed plans with the state to expand its Tarrant County data center operation at 14100 Park Vista Blvd. in Tarrant County, Data Center Dynamics reported.

QTS didn't respond to Bisnow’s request for comment.

The company’s permit filing coincides with plans to ramp up construction at CyrusOne’s 90-acre data center campus in Allen.

Over the next couple of years, CyrusOne plans to invest more than $80M in 209K SF of data center infrastructure, according to The Dallas Morning News. At full build-out, the campus will comprise nearly 1M SF.

QTS is a subsidiary of Blackstone, which earlier this year announced plans to spend $8B on the construction of new data centers, specifically those equipped to handle the massive computing needs of artificial intelligence.

In March, QTS unveiled updated plans to build 16 data centers across an 850-acre site in the booming data center hub of Prince William County, Virginia.

Several months later, the company said it would make its South Carolina debut with a $1B tech hub on 400 acres in York County, per Data Center Frontier.

The company already has a significant presence in Texas, with additional data center campuses in Fort Worth and San Antonio. Since its acquisition by Blackstone in late 2021, QTS has tripled its leased space and seen its valuation double to around $20B, according to The Financial Times.
