| Rangers managing partner/CEO Chuck Greenberg (speaking at the Fort Worth CREW luncheon at Colonial Country Club on Tuesday) says the stadium renovation includes a new high def video boardthat's six times bigger than the original, although not quite matching its neighbor at Jerry World. The old matrix board in dead center?s going away for an upgrade, all 817 TVs in the luxury suites will be replaced by flat panels. An in-park TV system (a first for MLB) with10 dedicated channels is going in, too. | We dined with BBVA Compass Bank assistant VP Amanda Martin, Central Market?s Jeff Osburn, AUI Contractors' Ashley Carter, and Roach Howard Smith & Barton VP Leigh Page. Chuck says it's been a long, strange road (taking well over a year and lots of full counts) traveling with team president and co-owner Nolan Ryan to gain ownership of the team. His main goal has been to create an affordable, fun experience for fans. Toward that, he says they'velowered ticket and parking prices, cut concession costs, and even instituted a blue light special at the games. He also answered questions about beer prices, adding Adrian Beltre, and how the Rangers have jerked around Michael Young (yes, we're editorializing, but we know most of you agree). It hasn?t hurt season ticket sales, though. He says they're already close to doubling last year's 7,500 season ticket holders. | |
