| Retired Houston homebuilder Dan Wallruth found a passion for helping wounded military members adjust after life-altering injuries. And now he's received a Texas Association of Builders award for his efforts to organize Operation Finally Home, which builds handicap accessible homes for wounded military members for no cost to the family, with the help of the homebuilding community. Last month, we photographed Dan (with several servicemen who've received homes) at the 2010 Sunbelt Builders Show at the Gaylord Texan. ?We should never let our wounded military go unnoticed for their efforts,? Dan says. There are 16 homes going up in Texas and plans include starting two homes in Illinois and one in North Carolina. Indiana and Arizona are also on the planning board. The org is working with ABCExtreme Makeover for a home in Fort Hood from Dec. 6-14; suppliers and subs are still needed for that project, says Dan, who was also featured on CNN.
