| The Real Estate Council announced its 2011 Community Initiatives, investing $300k in cash leveraged by the pro bono professional services of its members. The initiatives commit to four key program areas: housing, education, job creation, and the environment. | TREC prez Linda McMahon tells us that TREC?s Research and Development Committee researched each organization to make sure that these initiatives fit within the program areas and provide a professional assistance component for members. The Builders of Hope CDC/Westmoreland master plan will receive $30k from TREC to provide green upgradesto new affordable homes being developed in the Westmoreland neighborhood. These funds will allow for almost 50% of the new homes to be built with green upgrades. The cost per home is approximately $4,000. TREC?s members will provide green building and construction consulting services. |
