The Grateful Dead ends its long strange trip in Chicago this weekend. If you don't have tickets to the "Fare Thee Well" shows, here are three options to consider.

What: Front Left Productions is teaming up with the popular Pilsen-based theater group to host a full weekend of celebrations in conjunction with the Dead's Chicago shows. Nearby development: Redmoon is on the eastern edge of Pilsen in a largely industrial area but it's a short distance from all the recent mixed-use along Roosevelt Road in the South Loop and the growing demand for residential units along 18th Street.

Where: 322 W Armitage Ave

What: The popular bluegrass jam band is in town for a three-day residency at this Lincoln Park venue July 2-4. The shows on the 3rd and 4th will be preceded by live streams of the Dead's gigs at Soldier Field. Buy tickets here.

Nearby development: Things are falling in place for McCaffery's $350M plan to redevelop the old Children's Memorial Hospital site now that Hines is a partner. The site is a short walk north from Park West on Lincoln Avenue.

Where: 1400 S Lake Shore Dr

What: This is about as close as you're going to get to hear glorious noise in the distance as the Field Museum opens its northeast and southeast terraces for the shows, which will be live-streamed. Buy tickets here.

Nearby development: The South Loop has been growing by leaps and bounds for years with residential. Just south of there is Motor Row where Windy City RE is hoping to capitalize on the current revamp of McCormick Place and the City's plan to turn the area into an entertainment district.
