Millennial Magnet: New Hostel-Hotel Hybrid Opening in June

The Sydell Group, based in DC, is ready to debut The Freehand, its new half-hostel, half-hotel concept in Chicago June 1. It hopes the project in the former Hotel Tokyo at 19 E Ohio will be attractive for Millennials seeking cheap accommodations downtown and business travelers. According to the Chicago Tribune, more than one-third of the rooms will be shared dorms, but there are 135 private suites and two penthouses. The Freehand also has an on-premise café and hosts the already popular Broken Shaker cocktail lounge. [CT]
