CME Group Sells, Leases Back Main Data Center

CME Group, the company that runs the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, sold its main data center in a blockbuster deal.

CyrusOne bought the 428k SF property at 2905 Diehl Rd for $130M, and CME promptly signed a 15-year lease on the facility, according to Crain's.

The sale price is an indicator that data center real estate is a sector to continue watching in 2016. Chicago is a hotbed of data center real estate activity, thanks to a solid infrastructure, trading core competency and lower power rates. [Crain's]
