Those who know VOA's Nick Luzietti, know when he designs a space, he doesn't think of it as a room so much as a story. Recall his speech last year when inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame, a story complete with costume change. Nick led the team that designed VOA's space, a century-old building with an atrium, around the idea it should be an idea factory. A year-and-a-half later, he says they're now using it the way he envisioned—with storyboards and models telling the stories rather than BIM and AutoCad.

Here's one of Nick's latest projects: a new office for the Ryan Companies. It includes a red construction beam placed diagonally across the lobby. The beam is nearly impossible to fit into the space, telling the story of how many of Ryan's construction projects may seem impossible, but become reality through innovation. Nick hopes works like this will help inspire creative thinking among the people who work in those spaces.
