The City says Amtrak is shelling out $12M for a big time Union Station renovation, DNAInfo reports. It’s part of CDOT’s $500M Union Station Master Plan, an ambitious project that plans to turn the near century-old train station into a hub for bus rapid transit and eventually high-speed rail. It’ll also help with crowding and make movement through the station more efficient. And where will the City find additional funding? Chicago has helped pioneer the idea of infrastructure banking for more creative financing of local projects, according to ULI and Ernst & Young (though tweaks regarding governance and tax-exemption remain).
