Uber Opening Wicker Park Service Center

Uber is moving some of its operations out of Fulton Market. The ridesharing pioneer signed a lease in Wicker Park and will move its drivers service center there in spring.

Uber will occupy 12k SF at 1401 W North Ave. It's a sizable increase from its facility at 370 N Carpenter, and Uber hopes the new space will be able to handle the estimated 35,000 drivers using Uber's app every month, Crain's reports. The building's access to the Kennedy expressway will also improve.

Uber leases 58k SF for its corporate staff at 111 N Canal, and expects to complete adding 420 new hires by year-end. [Crain's]
