The long-embattled twin towers proposed for Logan Square have won approval of the city's planning commission. The plans, from developer Robert Buono, include an 11- and a 12-story tower with a total of 213 rental units and just 68 parking spaces, and 9k SF of retail. The planning commission is considered the last major hurdle. Groups of neighbors of the would-be residential development near the California Blue Line station have rallied in opposition to the plans, first presented last fall, arguing that the towers are too big and lack affordable housing. Some also expressed worry that the TOD, which only provides parking for a fraction of its residents, would create congestion in the area and crowding at the CTA station. [Curbed]
