| We caught up with Chris Curtis (far left), president of the Chicago SIOR chapter at its latest Meet & Greet in the city. He tells us that the industrial market in Kankakee County, metro Chicago's immediate southern neighbor, has had a perky spring so far. Local manufacturing has picked up, driving demand for manufacturing space and warehousing/distribution space. As a Nugent Curtis Real Estate principal, Chris has participated in 110k SF in sales and leases recently, and has more in the pipeline. But industrial's 8.1% vacancy in the area means that development is unlikely for the moment, he adds.
