| The biggest real estate party of the year presented us with lots of great pictures on Thursday night. John Buck Co's 23rd annual Spring Fling attracted 2,500 guests to the plaza and lobby of 330 N Wabash, featuring food from several River North restaurants and music from Liquidated Damages. We snapped The John Buck Co's John Buck with Clune Construction's Julie O'Shea, Kathleen Buck, and former Bear Roland Harper. (Thankfully not throwing a punishing block.) John told us he anticipated raising $500k to $600k for Urban Students Empowered through ticket sales, silent auction, and donations. | |
| We also found Magellan's Rebecca and Joel Carlins and Kathy Schaack and Titan Commercial's Paige Winkels. Joel tells us he just closed on the construction loan for Lakeshore East's newest apartment building, The Coast at 345 E Wacker. The lender,Northwestern Mutual Life, didn't want to finance another 500-unit apartment building, so David asked if they'd finance a 499-unit building (sly dog). They said yes, and construction will start this summer, with the building ready for occupancy in 2013. There's still eight sites to develop in Magellan's lakefront community. | |
| One of Chicago real estate's cutest couples: VOA's Rika Semba and Power Construction's Patrick Donley. Power is working on a 600k SF Mather Lifeways community in Evanston. VOA designed the new Roosevelt University vertical campus on the south end of the Loop—some of the only cranes downtown today. | |

Bisnow's Scott Morrison with Greenberg Traurig's Sandy Presant, Ragnar Benson's Scott Solverson, Bisnow's Jonathan Hobfoll, Ragnar Benson's Jim Mahalko, and Greenberg Traurig's Michael Fishman. Ragnar Benson is building a 5,900 SF, 4.8MW renewable energy center at the Rochelle Muncipal Landfill #2. The center will produce enough energy to fuel 4,000 homes. Greenberg Traurig is looking forward to more Bisnow conferences— we've enjoyed having both Sandy and Michael as moderators. |
