| Retailers have committed to more than half of the 330k SF of retail space at the Shops at Roosevelt Collection, McCaffery Interests managing director Clay McCaffery said last night at a small event at the mixed-use Roosevelt Collection in the South Loop. They’re all retailers associated with the likes of Michigan Avenue or State Street or the Near North Side or Lincoln Park, but none with the South Loopuntil now: H&M, ULTA Beauty, Francesca’s Collection, BlackFinn American Grille, Z Gallerie, Fleet Feet Sports, White House Black Market, Republic of Couture, and Chica Loca, a restaurant. Clay told us that it took about a year to get these retailers to commit—and more will be announced in the spring. | |
| Besides spending the last year courting tenants, McCaffery has refurbished the property’s long plaza, which extends from Roosevelt Road to the property’s Icon movie theater. The plaza now includes a playground, seating with fire pits, a fountain, and a koi pond (and a fair number of holiday lights these days). All of the property’s 342 apartments are leased, and with the retailer commitments, buildout work has startedon the one- and two-story stores ringing the plaza, Clay says. McCaffery owns the property in a JV with Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds, acquiring it last year in a short sale. |
