Real Estate's Own Madhouse on Madison

NAI Hiffman's Brian Edgerton and Sonoma Construction's Dave Julian had an overwhelming response to their request to start an annual Broker Hockey game at Johnny's Ice House West. Last night, 30 brokers and construction professionals raised more than$4,000 for the Blackhawks Charity. Dave says he knows a lot of guys in the industry who played in high school or college and were willing to bring it to the ice. They're hoping to host an even bigger event next year.
The biggest fan of the night: NAI Hiffman's Denny Hiffman. We caught him coaching Brian as goalie at the east end of the ice. Denny was on the USA Curling Team Coach in the '90s and even took a team to the world championships in Edmonton, Canada. Since many hockey players curl as a second sport, Denny tells us he's curled with some former Blackhawks.
Of course, what's a hockey game without a stop at the rink's bar? We found Vortex Group's Kristy Burlingame, Sonoma Construction'sJon Runquist, and Himes Associates' Sheila Sipes talking shop. Himes recently hired two new mission critical project managers to staff its data centers nationwide. Jon is working on a build-out forBaltus at 120 S. LaSalle. He's also teaming up with Kristy on a new50k SF spec office suite build-out at the Civic Opera building— possibly the first in the building's long history.
