Last night, 60 real estate professionals gathered at HOK's newly LEED-Platinum'd office to discuss how they were handling the Green Office Challenge. Shaw's David Abolt  offered a unique example:worm composting. The ones in his office come 1,000 to the pound and eat 50% of their body weight every day. David gave away two boxes of the crawlers to people who correctly answered questions. That kind of reward would've made elementary school much more successful for us.

Green Office Challenge rep Amy Malick talked about how energy materials, company culture, and transit can affect how your office functions. Many presenters commented on how communication, such as rewarding  employees for turning off computers and not using too many electronics, can improve the workings of an office. That communication is also facilitated by open office spaces that result from trying to get more natural light into the space.
