New JLL (yes, the name has officially been shortened) capital markets prez Steve Collins was in Cannes for MIPIM and gleaned some interesting tidbits from the international investment community. While the US is still very high on the list of places to invest their commercial real estate dollars (Exhibit A: Chinese firm Cindat Capital Management buying 311 S Wacker in a JV with Zeller), core markets may be getting too core. Investors have turned their attention to secondary markets, and many who'd never consider a JV now will. (What good is an investment without someone to share it with?) Big name and high street retail were also hot topics, as well as increased access to sovereign wealth funds, he tells us.
