NEAR NORTH AND AROUND THE WORLD

Cindy O'Donohue and Daniel Fowler of Near North National Title Insurance have been helping buyers insure their titles for portfolios across the country, so they're often among the first to see the due diligence on portfolio sales. And they say they like what they're seeing. In recent months, NNNT has insured titles on a five-hotel nationwide portfolio, a hotel in Lakeshore East, and a major office sale in the CBD (they have to keep client names confidential). Cindy and Daniel are expecting to see more multifamily and hotel properties change hands this year.
During the recession, title insurance became more complex because buyers wanted to make sure there weren't any financial claims left on properties as they were foreclosed. There's still some hangover from the recession, but as business picks up, NNNT is finding some of its old clients starting to buy property again. Daniel and Cindy tell us they're also looing forward to Bisnow's Schmoozarama II at Fulton's on the River on May 18. They insured the title on the Fulton's building last time it was sold, plus it's a short stumble from their ground-level office at 222 N LaSalle.
