No, we haven?t retired to a modern bungalow in backcountry just yet. This is one of the most decorated new buildings of 2009, the Serta Center in Hoffman Estates; its honors include the National AIA Design Award, the local AIA award, a citation from the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and Chicago Tribune's Best of 2009 list. The building was designed by Epstein's Andrew Metter to compliment its prairie surroundings. He says the client built in a lot of amenities for employees, including tons of natural light and an outdoor penthouse lunch area, so they can get away from the grind. |
