| OWP/P's Rand Ekman, HJKessler and Associates' Helen Kessler, and Verdi Workshop's Rico Cedro explained forthcoming rules on LEED-AP status: It will change from being just one accreditation to several. (Collect 'em like trading cards, Rico says.) Every 2-3 years, the ratings systems will increase in difficulty, Rand says, meaning you'll need more points to get to each level. Last night's venue,Gensler's new offices in the Sullivan Center, is hoping to achieve LEED Platinum certification itself. These walls couldn't talk, but hopefully they were listening. |
Representing experience in green building were TAC By Schneider Electric's Sonia Bilenschuk, and Nelson's Theyla Horna and John Albrecht. Nelson recently built a LEED-Gold Taco Bell in Massachusetts and a LEED-Platinum McDonald's on Chicago's South Side. Now, when kids say they can get all the greens they need at fast food joints, they may be right on a technicality. |
