Some Lakeview residents are opposing plans for a new 75k SF Whole Foods market in West Lakeview. The market would replace a current Whole Foods at 3300 N Ashland Ave, which is set to close in 2017. This new store, at the intersections of Ashland, Lincoln and Belmont avenues, would be the second-largest in Chicago. While some West Lakeview residents have said they are looking forward to a more spacious store, others say the plans lack certain key features: a public park proposed for Melrose Street, a second parking garage entrance and exit, and a traffic light for the corners of Ashland and Melrose. "It's Whole Food Market, not Whole Foods Big Box," one resident told DNAinfo.
