Jeanne Gang has won a truckload of awards in her illustrious career, including a MacArthur Foundation genius grant. The latest to add to her mantle: The Architectural Review named her Architect of the Year in its Women of Architecture 2016 awards.
Jeanne won the award based on her design of the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership in Kalamazoo, MI. The panel of judges included such luminaries as Norman Foster and Martha Thorne.

The judges cited her use of state-of-the-art materials, such as sustainable wood masonry and even some 3D printed materials, as well as Jeanne's transparent design process.
Upon accepting the award, Jeanne said the study of social justice is worthy of having a dedicated space, and that the Arcus Center embodies that, inside and out. [TAR]
