How Real Estate Hibernates

It snowed this week, and we were horrified. But we picked ourselves up, ordered a latte, and asked readers how they hibernate in the winter. Beverly Hayes, who just joined Sperry Van Ness Chicago Commercial as an advisor specializing in industrial, says she likes to spend the winter reading by the fireplace in her office, drinking wine, and skiing. (She was previously an associate at Chicago Industrial Real Estate.) Beverly thinks the industrial market is coming back, and people are finally making moves they've been talking about all year. If she can close frozen food and construction company deals, she'll be taking her husband (wine lover) and herself (ski lover) to Park City (above).

NAI Hiffman's Adam Naparsteck, who just came on from Paine/Wetzel as VP in the industrial services brokerage group, says when it starts to get cold it immediately feels like ski season and he gets the itch to find a mountain somewhere. If he and his fiancee can't get out East (where he learned to ski on the icy hills of NH) or out West, they like to take trips to Michigan and Wisconsin for quick ski getaways. Places like Traverse City have great food, breweries, and are close to ski resorts, he says. This year they're busy hunting for honeymoon spots (he'll take suggestions) and wedding planning. Send photos and details on how you hibernate to marissa.oberlander@bisnow.com and we'll feature the best ones here!
