Here's Tony at our Multifamily Summit earlier this year, sans hockey gear. He's currently developing the new Summit on Lake, a 42-story, 332-unit luxury apartment just off MIchigan Ave and Lake St. He's hoping its stunning exterior and amenities will help improve the image of Michigan south of the River and expects to get city approval on the project in December so he can break ground in late winter. Now that baseball's over, his firm's also working on the new Wrigley Park development (below). He says it's slower to get approval but will include a hotel and two floors of retail and should break ground by the end of the Cubs' season in 2012. (Not to delay your groundbreaking, Tony, but we're hoping Theo Epstein makes that later than early September.) | |
| Tony is one of the members of the USA Executive Committee Hockey, the governing council that manages the US World Championship and Olympic hockey teams. Although he never played hockey himself, he started organizing hockey leagues in the south suburbs for his two sons when they were young. He moved up to governing positions in the metropolitan area, then the state, and finally nationally. Tony tells us he loves the people he's met through hockey and now enjoys watching his grandchildren play. It's too bad he hasn't found the opportunity to own an ice rink yet. |
