Going Platinum

The Chicago branch of architecture firm HOK  has that new office smell (warning: your screen is not scratch ?n sniff) and earned LEED-CI Platinum in the process. HOK's own Tom Polucci  led the design team for the 14th floor of the CNA building, his third turn designing his own office space for the firm.

 

One necessity, a Nintendo Wii for the HOKafe lunchroom. Other special features: wood bar made from felled Chicago park trees, an HOK Family Wall for pictures of events, and a room for new moms adjusting back to work life. LEED-Platinum won't require constant attention, as automated lights  and HVAC systems will turn off as needed. (As long as that Wii stays on, it appears they'll be comfortable).
