Yesterday at the  Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council's offices, we snapped Alan Whitson, who's not only an automatic frontrunner in the Bisnow Dr. Andrew Weil look-alike contest, but speaks with great wisdom on saving money on green design for hospitals and MOBs. For every $1 PSF a hospital spends on green design, it can save $25 in energy costs, Alan says. Hospitals are becoming increasingly harder and more expensive to build as new medical technology emerges, Alan adds, so saving on heating and cooling by retrofitting HVAC systems or installing a green roof  is especially important.
