Developers Present Plans for West Loop Rentals

Developers are planning a 130-unit apartment property on the Near West Side, at the current site of a Carmichael's Steakhouse. Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group presented plans for the mix of two- and three-bedroom apartments to community members Tuesday night, showing off renderings for two four-story brick buildings. The two-bedrooms would rent for about $3k a month, according to DNAinfo, at just under $3/SF. Developers also plan to add about 7.9k SF of ground-level green space at the property, which is part of the West Loop and Near West Side's ongoing real estate boom. But community members at the meeting called for even more green space. The former Carmichael's building is slated to be torn down later this spring. The restaurant closed in March. [DNAinfo]
