Cubs Unveil New Plaza Renderings

The Cubs may not have given their fans the World Series title they've been waiting 107 years to celebrate, but the North Siders' offseason will be busy, all the same. The ballclub has launched it second winter of renovations to Wrigley Field and the surrounding area, which the Cubs hope will contribute to a sustained period of winning baseball.

The landmark Wrigley Field marquee above the ballpark's main entrance at Clark and Addison was removed earlier this month for restoration, and so crews can conduct renovations to the ballpark's facade, reports DNA Info. Crews also finished laying the steel frame that will become the Cubs' new office building.

That's not all. The ballclub hopes to have a modern clubhouse ready for Opening Day, while the plaza at Addison and Sheffield is expected to be redone. The Cubs hope this will become a neighborhood gathering space for local events. It's all part of the Cubs' $575M renovation project. [DNA]
