Broker Softball Weekly Roundup

Player of the Week: CBRE senior associate Mark Floersch (left, back when things were a little cooler). Welcome back, Mark. He had a big three-run homer in the first, followed by a 4 for 5.

Off the field: Mark's niche is unusual. Since joining CBRE, he's developed a unique client list, tapping into and creating a specialization in repping trading firms.

Postgame Schmooze: Great sponsor was J.F. McKinney & Associates. Company patriarch Jack McKinney, as well as his progeny Chris, were on hand for the festivities. The Karaoke Korral, hosted by Bill Barry of Draper & Kramer, was hopping, as Janette Outlaw made a special appearance. Rookie Nate Reichert made his debut and almost shattered glass, but he was a good sport. One more note: July 23 will be the first annual DRESL Idol Karaoke competition.

FIELD 1: C&W 11, INLAND 7. C&W continues to surprise, as it defeated a spunky Inland squad. Dan Svachula ended up going 4-4 and was in top form on the hill. John Norris hit well and was masterful at short, while Inland’s left fielder Jim Quaid fired two lasers to rookie backstop Niko Retana, nailing two C&W runners at the plate.

FIELD 2: JLL-ONE 16, BRADFORD ALLEN 0. JLL-1 handed a BA a tough defeat to get back to a respectable .500. Jason Vervack, fresh from paternity leave for his first game of the season, striped a dinger to the right field gap to lead off the game and it was all downhill for BA after that.

FIELD 3: UGL-EQUIS 8, MIDAMERICA 1. UGL bounced back from its heartbreaking loss to the Goo Goos last week with an impressive win over Mid Am, stopping the retailers three-game winning streak in its tracks.

FIELD 4: MB REAL ESTATE 16, J.F. McKINNEY 13.  In maybe the most exciting game of the night, MB’s ringers turned out to be better than JFM’s, though the score see-sawed back and forth. For MB, Jack Gavin had another great game, going 4-5 with a single, two dooblays and a triple while playing errorless ball at short. Jeff Laski was on the bump and also went 4-5. Rookie MB broker Doug Noble showed great promise, going 3-3 in his debut.

FIELD 5:  GOLUB 12, KLEIN’S CORPORATE REALTY 9. The Goo Goos came out on top in this friendly grudge match. The Kleins are now .500 and the Goos are having their best season in a few years, at 5-1.

FIELD 6: TISHMAN SPEYER PROPERTIES 8, JLL TWO 4. TSP prez Casey Wold was on the bump and tossed another gem with two Ks and also added two ribeyes. Tom Petit dialed 8 for his first dinger of the year.

FIELD 7: CBRE 14, CTK PARTNERS 5. CB rolled over CTK. The fresh-legged Mark Floersch, our Player of the Week, had a monster three-run dinger in the first inning. John Clifford kept his hot hitting alive with three big hits.
