BISNOW GOES BIG IN TEXAS

A whopping 875 people joined us yesterday in The Woodlands (that’s 30 miles north of Houston, in case it doesn’t sound familiar) for Bisnow’s Future of the Woodlands event. The 28,000-acre live/work/play community is now the second best-selling master-planned community in the US. What drew the big crowd: a chocolate fountain, string quartet, and top developers discussing how a 2% Class-A office vacancy is spurring spec development. (For those who like to think everything is bigger in Texas, call it 98% un-vacancy.) Energy companies are quickly snapping up that space, following in the footsteps of ExxonMobil (building a massive 3.5M SF campus just south) and Anadarko (expanding its Woodlands HQ with a new 550k SF tower).
