Dunkin' Donuts Opens 12,000th Restaurant

It's a special milestone for the doughnut maker: Massachusetts' own Dunkin' Donuts—first opened in Quincy in 1950, now based in Canton—opened its 12,000th location worldwide this week.

That's a dozen times 1,000 for Dunkin' Brands Group, which is the nation's largest purveyor of baked goods.

The 12,000th location is a franchise-owned store in Riverside, CA, in metro LA. The company is in growth mode in California, the Boston Business Journal reports, with more than 30 new restaurants now open there, and plans for about 300 new locations in the coming years. [BBJ]
