Baltimore Penn Station has been a target for years around the city as the site of a potential redevelopment, and now we have an idea which development firm or firms will lead the charge.
Amtrak announced three finalists who responded to its request for qualifications as master developer of the station and properties around the station that Amtrak controls, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. The finalists are three groups of developers well-known to Baltimoreans and the Mid-Atlantic:
Penn Station Partners: Beatty Development Group, Armada Hoffler Properties and Bill Struever's Cross Street Partners
Peebles-AZ Baltimore Penn: Peebles Corp, AZ Group, MacFarlane Partners
Brandywine Realty Trust with Pinkard Properties
It's too early to know exactly what will go in there—and who will put it there—but Amtrak hopes to start development by 2018. Amtrak has previously said it will choose a partner by summer 2017. [BBJ]
