Allen Morris Starting Construction On Second Star Metals District Apartment

The site being targeted by Allen Morris Co. for a new phase to its Star Metals District project.

Allen Morris Co. is looking to pour the foundation of its second apartment project at its Star Metals District.

The Florida-based developer filed an application with the city of Atlanta to begin foundation work on Stella Lofts, a planned 20-story, 331-unit multifamily development a block from the 409-unit Star Metals Residences that were developed in Phase 1 of the mixed-use project in 2020.

The building has since rebranded as Sentral West Midtown at Star Metals after Denver-based flexible housing operator Sentral bought a majority stake in the building from the developer after it delivered, CEO Allen Morris told Bisnow.

The 338K SF Stella Lofts, at 660 11th St. in West Midtown, will include a parking garage, retail and commercial space, according to the application. Morris told Bisnow that the firm is in talks to secure construction financing.

The building is the first piece of the planned second phase of its Star Metals District. Earlier this year, the developer filed an application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to expand Star Metals with an additional 775 residential units, 50 hotel/short-term rental units, 200K SF of offices and 80K SF of retail.

The first phase of the project also included the Star Metals Offices building, anchored by IWG’s Signature by Regus luxury coworking operations and Seattle-based sales engagement software maker Outreach.
