"Project Rocket" could be blasting off soon in Stone Mountain.

The code name stands for a distribution center being planned for 2100-2200 West Park Place Blvd. on the line between Gwinnett and DeKalb counties near Atlanta's signature geological landmark. The project could bring as much as 2.5M SF of warehouse space, more than tripling the size since it was first proposed months ago, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

The site plan for the center was filed earlier this month with Gwinnett County by engineering firm Eberley & Associates, although it is unclear who the developer is behind the project. The site spans 78 acres, and the distribution facility would be built to 80 feet and multiple stories, a rarity for industrial properties.

Many in local real estate circles believe, according to the ABC, that the project is destined for the dominant name in distribution: Amazon. The e-commerce giant was pitching a similar project to Atlanta-area developers last year. Of course, Atlanta is on the 20-city shortlist for the $5B, 8M SF economic development sweepstakes that is Amazon HQ2.

The center, when complete, would provide 1,800 jobs and have space for 207 trailers to load packages and send them across the rapidly growing Atlanta metro area.
