For a change, Speedo is the right fit for something that is described as “bulk.”

Global apparel maker PVH Corp. — which owns brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, Calvin Klein, IZOD and Speedo — has inked a 20-year lease at 8500 Tatum Road, a 1M SF bulk distribution facility at Shugart Farms in Palmetto, Georgia. PVH plans to create 575 jobs once it is fully operational by year's end.

The deal, announced Friday by Gov. Brian Kemp, cements a second distribution facility for PVH in Metro Atlanta. It will maintain a warehouse in Henry County as well.

“By creating 575 jobs and investing $77.6M in the Palmetto community, PVH Corp's positive impact will be felt statewide and bring even more business to our booming Savannah port,” Kemp said in a statement.

The new facility was initially a speculative warehouse development by Red Rock Developments, and its partner New York-based Wharton Industrial. JLL Senior Vice President Brad Pope brokered the lease for Red Rock.

This is the latest leasing success for Shugart Farms industrial complex and is the launch of the second phase. The first phase included 2M SF now occupied by J.M. Smucker Co. and Duracell.

Red Rock President John Barker said the developer plans to break ground on another 1M SF speculative distribution facility at Shugart Farms later this year.

"There's still a lot of velocity," Barker said. "There's a lot of people looking for large buildings."
