UPS Expands Hybrid Fleet

Atlanta-based UPS is showing an impressive commitment to hybrid electric vehicles. This week, 25 rolled into Houston—part of a fleet of 200 new and improved hybrids being deployed this spring. Hybrids also are going to Austin, Chicago, Long Island, Louisville, Minneapolis, Philly and DC. (This is round two—50 hybrids are already delivering packages in Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix and Houston.) The 200 new vehicles will reduce fuel consumption by 176,000 gallons in one year and prevent the emission of 1,786 metric tons of CO2 gases.
