We bumped into Sustainable Options principal Greg O?Brien at the Corner Bakery in Buckhead this week and picked his brain on green. While nearly all recent high-end developments have sought LEED, office building owners have tight budgets these days for green conversions of existing buildings. Still, Greg is convinced that as buildings change hands in coming years, environmental responsibility will be demanded from regulators, users, and investors. His team of eight is busy auditing and LEED-certifying buildings such as City Hall and two unnamed but ?prominent? trophy towers here in Atlanta, and the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, since meeting planners are increasingly seeking venues that pursue energy efficiency and sustainability. |
