SMASHBURGER'S COMING

Denver-based Smashburger has 58 stores and expects to have at least 100 by year?s end, including its first locations in Atlanta. It has put out five letters of intent here, company prez Scott Crane tells us. Smashburger?s search focuses on strip centers in East Cobb, the Perimeter Mall areaDunwoody, Alpharetta, and Buckhead/Midtown. Scott likes Atlanta because the economy is relatively strong and the mild climate means fewer weather disruptions. Smashburger tries to fill a niche between fast food and casual dining, aiming for what it calls ?twice a week affordability.?(These restaurant people have clever categorizers, have you noticed?) Alex Deitch from Colliers International is repping Smashburger in Atlanta.
